Open Question: Has anyone here ever used Accutane (or know about it?)?

i'm 17, my acne has been bothering me for 4 years... i was determined to start taking Accutane a few days ago, so i went to my doctor today.. he told me about Accutane last visit, and i thought the side effects weren't too bad (dry skin, hair loss) but now i'm a bit worried, because after looking online, i saw many scary things about it, such as joint pain, brain damage, and other unforeseen problems in the future.. tomorrow's my blood test, should i still try it? i really don't want long term effects. and is there another way to clear my acne? thanks so much!

Open Question: How to have a good control on acne breakouts?

I usually have pretty flawless skin (with the exception of bags below my eyes from major lack of snooze) with the occasional microscopic oil bubble, or minor zit. These past few days, I've been having a pretty minor breakout, but it's still irritating. I'm pretty sure that this breakout is caused by my stress and anxiety over starting Sept. 7th as a freshman. Really nervous... I need some home remedies for how I can treat/receive rid of my acne and the bags below my eyes. I'm hoping they receive better actually because I have... some form of insomnia, not sure... any ideas to receive rid of that as well as the other 2 problems will potentially make you a best answer! Bottom line: I need home remedies for these skin problems (and perhaps how to receive rid of insomnia!) so badly! Much appreciated, thank you so much!! :D

Open Question: How can I treat my severe-mild acne?

It's really confusing, I ALWAYS receive a break out one on top of the other, and it lingers, If I happen to receive lucky every once in a blue moon it goes away for maybe 3 days, and comes back AGAIN! I've tried EVERY product you could think of, nothing helped, just dried out my skin. Even when i wore my hair back for weeks, and made sure to wash my face everyday, it just had NO effect. I used acne free,clean & clear , nuetrogena heard doesn't work. I have to wait for a dermatologist right now, I have a feeling It'll be awhile before that happens though, what should I do? It's really bothering my self esteem, but now I really think nothing will work but something like an injection. Is there anything that acually works?

I've had mild acne for two to three years now. I'm a sophomore in high school. I have a healthy diet, never drink soda nor eat candy/excessive sugar, keep a healthy diet, exercise 4-5 days a week, and have been using proactive for 2 years. I have a rigorous high school schedule but I manage my time very well and never seem to be stressed. So, I'm eating healthy, exercising, using overcounter acne treatments, and maintaining a structured life with little stress, what is the cause of this and can a dermatologist help? Thanks.

Open Question: I'm a 15-year-old guy, and I have a really oily face. Please help?!?

Hey there. I really need some advice. I'm a guy with a guy face and skin, but I'm willing to use some "feminine" products if my skin allows it. When I refer to "skin", I mean my face. I have fairly sensitive skin and it is very prone to acne and pimples during stressful times. I have consulted my doctor about the acne on my skin, and he said that it could be because I have lots of excess oil that forms the acne on my face, apart from stress and its sensitivity to other chemicals. I asked him if I could reduce the oil level on my face, and he jokingly said "No, but you could take birth control pills." Acne aside, my face is really oily, SO oily to the fact that I have to wash my face (with water - more like rinse) every hour or so before it gets really visible and shiny. At school during class, I feel like I have to go to the washroom every class to rinse my face or else I will feel so hot that it makes me feel uncomfortable. I can feel the oil as I rub it off my face (and onto my hands) to reduce the shininess and the potential possibility of other people noticing. I wash my face every morning with a Neutrogena for Men product. I am also regularly using Olay Sensitive skin (that DOES have some oil in it) every night as a moisturizer. I REALLY need help right here. I have tried honey (I have heard it reduced shininess and oiliness, but it failed for me). I also heard that exfoliating can help with this condition. I have been eating some fatty foods though. What I want to know is if you guys can help me find a product that I could use to reduce the oiliness quickly, as well as some tips. Some acne prevention tips are also helpful. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. :) Thanks for some of the answers guys (I just read the first four). I have pale skins with freckles. Its time I do something about it. I want tanned flawless skin. I guess the good thing is, I don't have pimples or acne and I am fifteen. My mom never got them and I haven't had any yet. I receive one pimple every now and again. Open Question: i think i like him...? :/?

So, there's this guy named alec... and when i first really started to hang out with him (the end of 8th grade) he told me that he liked me and like two of my friends. but it was alright that he liked them too, cuz i didn't have any sort of feelings for him. i actually thought he was kinda stalkerish and awkward, but that's cuz i didn't know him very well. for the end of the year field trip, our entire 8th grade went to an amusement park, and i ended hanging out with alec, my other two friends that he happened to like, and about 4 of my other REALLY close guy friends. so, we every kinda got each others numbers, and it just so happened that alec and i started texting more. for this entire summer (4 months), we pretty much text everyday, from like noon to 2 am. we tell each other absolutely everything!!, we know what each other likes, we receive in trouble for each other, we jokingly call each other names, and we say i adore you in like a brotherly sisterly teasing way.. and stuff like that! well about two days ago, we did our 11:11 wish. its where as soon as it turns 11:11, we'll make a wish, and then usually neither of us will voluntarily tell what we wished for... well, i finally got it outta him! and he said that he wishes we could be more than friends. so just to make sure, i said, "you mean go out?" and he said yeah. i've known that he's liked me ever since the end of 8th grade... and i think i kinda like him too... but so far this summer, we have barely gotten to hang out at every (cuz he does football, and im in volleyball). but our practice and game times are pretty close, so we try and hang out for like a couple minutes before either of us has to go. he's a really down to earth guy... but idk if we'll ever receive a chance to hang out. (my mom is also kinda strict :P she had me when she was 18, so shes sooooo worried about that happening to me. i've gotten straight A's since i started school, im mature, i babysit kids, i'm very involved in activities, i have a TON! of really close guy friends and she knows that! ... but she just has something against me dating.. IDK :P haha anyways!!!) im going to be a freshman in 3 days, and i've only had one boyfriend. it was in 6th grade, and i didn't really know the guy (1st mistake). he was soooo cute!! but i didn't know him. we dated for like a week, and then he was immature and i found out that he was just a charmer... thats every he was. so after about a week, i broke up with him. now, i'm worried that if i do happen to go out with alec, and for some reason we break up... we won't be as close as we are now... and i don't wanna lose that!! :/ so idk if i should go out with him or not. he really likes me and he's an amazing guy!! but i just cant lose him over a relationship. p.s.~ just some extra information... he tells me often that im gorgeous and amazing and really prettty! he doesn't tell me that im sexy or hot, even tho he thinks i am ;) i think that it means more to a girl if you say they're amazing and beautiful rather than sexy and hot. anyways.. i also kinda have some problems with self esteem. i have moderate acne, but personally i think i look somewhat like a model... if the acne would just go the hell away for good!! i use 3 different types of medication from my dermatologist, but my acne is still here. i just don't know how someone as amazing as alec could like someone like me with acne :/ anyways... i know this was nice of long.... but i really am looking for help!! please give the best answer you can, cuz i've had this on my mind constantly! :/ thanks for everything in advance :)

Open Question: Seriously how do you get rid of acne FAST?

Okay, ive asked so many acne questions and ive tried so many things and none of them work. Can please have a very clear answer. I do not want expensive products or dermatologist recommendations. Ive tried dermatologist and it always gets worse before it gets better. I want it to work quickly please! The most important thing. Does it work! Can I please have a success story? I dont want it from someone who is just trying to help and has no encounters with acne at every. How long will it take? What are the side effects if any? Im sorry if I sound rude of mean. Im not trying to be. It just gets frustrating. I receive whiteheads and little bumps almost skin coloured on my face. I have oily skin. My acne is on my forehead, on my nose and around my nose. Open Question: Going on birth control soon. Does it make your breasts grow?

I am 15 and I recently started having sex. My family knows, and they want me to be safe. So I am going on birth control. I keep hearing about how it makes breasts grow, weight gain, makes your skin oily, etc. So sadly, I am still an a cup :( I would adore to have at least a B or something that can hold up a shirt. Do they make breasts grow due to the hormones in them? Does it make your skin oily? I also said it gets rid of acne too. Will I gain weight? & finally, with condoms and the pill, how safe am I? Oh and I have PMDD so I was wondering if there are certain brands of birth control that give you less periods because my pal says she takes one that gives her a period once a month because she wants one.

ohkay so my face, is like always itchy! idk but i thought that id tell you that. uhm i dont have "acne" i just receive occasional breakouts, my pimples arent like the huge noticeable ones, like i dont receive those. i receive tiny bumps that you can barely tell are zits unless you really look at my skin..i usually cover it up when i do receive them though..i really just need to receive rid of these in three days before school starts? i use neutrogena oil free acne wash & the morning burst *blue one* by clean&clear. i also use ivory soap. i usually adore dove but lately my parents have been buying ivory. which drys my skin out, so im gonna have to make it clear to them to buy dove & only dove for me. but anyways do you have any good home remedies or cheap products that you KNOW work from experience.

I have acne scars,and my doc recomended retin a in jan,i used it for about 2.5 weeks,then i scratched y skin coz it was soo soo itchy i the night and red and dry,and it became a even deeper scar of its nice...i stopped retin a from that day,and got so scared never went to my doc,now i have itching and tiny acne every over my skin,i was wondering is i should strat retin A again or if i stopped too early or was it fine to cease it?i have highly sensitive skin,and i dont use makeup :) Is there any softer substitute fo filling in sunken scars?? thanx a hell lot

Open Question: What's the best foundation for covering up acne?

So I'm starting high school in 5 days and of course, I have acne that covers the majority of my face. I go to the dermatologist regularly, and have been prescribed two topical medications: Tazorac, and Acanya gel; and I use them religiously lol. I've been dealing with this issue since the summer before seventh grade, and the medication barely helps. I know there's no way I'll be able to rid myself of this acne completely in just 5 days, so I was hoping someone knew of a good foundation, or concealer, that would cover them up as best as possible. Thanks so much!!! And any help is greatly appreciated!!!:) P.S...The medication I use tends to give me extremely dry skin, esp. when I put on makeup, so if there's something that could help with that as well as the acne, It'd be a life saver!!!

I'm 18 and i really have no clue to what adore is. Like my family, relatives dislike me, i have no friends because i'm silent and really shy. I'm not sociable. I'm always alone. I suffered from severe cystic acne and i have acne scars. My family/relatives are like the people who judge by looks. I'm too fat. My self-esteem's down the toilet. I've never been complimented before by anyone and i'm really serious about that. I wish somebody loved and cared for me. The word "adore" has never arrive out of my mouth. so lately ive been getting really down and depressed about my appearance. for some reason, ive completely lost every my beauty features that once made me look beautiful. im a 22 year old girl, so of course i want to look good. the past few months ive completely lost my skin complextion. im greek and my family has naturally tanned skin. so, i have always had a nice even complextion, and my face was always glowing- i NEVER needed to use makeup. now my face has lost its color. i look pale and unhealthy, and am starting to receive acne everywhere. not huge pimples, but little red spots. why is this happening? i have no changes in diet and am not on any medications. also my eyebrows have began to thin out. my left one is WAY thinner than the right one, and i used to have thick dark brows. i am SO unhappy over this, have been to 2 doctors and had bloodwork, etc. done and they cant find any answer to it. Open Question: Period Delay - compliations?

Hi I'm due to be married in 5 weeks and have my honeymoon too. Up until last month my periods were every 42 days because I take Lithium (priadel) and I believe this has played around with my hormones as I've also had acne. Last month my period was tardy (73 days). I record my dates every month on an iPhone app that works it out for me. This month I was due around the 20th so it wouldn't have affected my wedding or honeymoon. Now I have arrive on and in serious pain with cramping in legs, back and tummy. I know now there's a good chance of my period arriving during my wedding/honeymoon and I know i'll have to delay it. My question is when do I take it if I'm not sure on my due date? Plus I am taking Lithium and Olanzapine for bipolar disorder and will this affect the other meds in any way? Someone help please!

I have mild acne, you can barely look the little pimples unless you are standing like right beside me and staring my face off. But some people say that for certain skin types or acne types water can help clear your skin up somewhat and then again it won't. With the type of acne I have do you think drinking water and cutting every the kool-aid and general sugar intake could actually help my skin clear up? P.S. Open Question: FACE problem please help ASAP?

okay, so for the past few days, its been 35 degrees, and 40 with the humidity , in these few days ive been getting a whole wack of these skin colored bumps on my chin, and forehead, and maybe a few onn my cheeks, i NEVER had bad skin before, i always had good skin, i also recintly just got some new mac studio powder + foundation , i use it on my undereyes mostly and a tiny bit on the relax of my skin. i used it before and it never did this to my skin and theres no bumps on my nose and undereyes which is were i use it the most, so im thinking its not the makeup..also, i wash my face with acne cleanser and hot water, + moisterizer, so, im leaning towards heat rash but i have no clue, i just want my skin back to normal, please tell me what you think id be SOOOOOOOOOO appreciated...

Open Question: What Does Ringworm Look Like As It is Going Away?

A while back, roughly 3-4 months ago, I got a rather big rash on my neck, shaped as a circle. It was very red and very itchy. Unfortunately, at the time, I did not have medical insurance because I was moving to another company. So, I could not receive it checked out and it presented no immediate danger, just very irritating. I talked to my dad and he recommended some cream that treats ringworm. I proposed it may be Lyme Disease but ringworm is far more likely to occur than Lyme, and the rash was not shaped as a bullseye. Normally, I would not take a risk involving my personal health, even a risk based on an educated guess, but considering going to a doctor and having tests preformed would be too costly and put me into debt, I had no choice. It died down after 2 weeks and slowly faded away. Except now, in the exact same spot the rash was, there are multiple red bumps. They don't itch but they are pretty red. I think it's just acne (I have a fairly mild case of acne) because some of them were white in the middle and popped when I put acne cream on them; others not so much. The point is, in the exact same spot that I had my rash, there are now multiple red bumps in the exact same spot. Also, I did not use the ringworm cream as instructed. I used it once a day before I went to bed and I stopped after only 2 weeks (instead of using it twice a day for a month). Should I be concerned? Or is just acne?

Open Question: Can a person be too damaged physically and mentally to experience love?

Im 21 and I had a not so good up bringing filled with abuse and neglect which involved countless visits from police and child safety authorities I feel my experiences has screwed me up socially and I find it very difficult to form relationships without being seen as anti social, I have had suicidal tendencies over the past few years like tying an extension cord around my neck, holding knives to my throat and tummy and punching myself in the face with a 4 ounce glove untill my face is covered in blood, I haven't cried in years and find it difficult to even if I want to physically im not a desirable height only 5'5 and I have severe life acne scaring on my face and body I have done alot of bad things in my life which makes me feel like I am undeserving of adore anyway. I have never gotten this before in my life and i don't really have acne, i just receive a pimple on my face once every few months. i few days ago i noticed that there was a little bump on my lip but i thought it might be a clip healing or maybe something else but i woke up this morning to find it had grown into what looks like a whitehead pimple and it's on the outside corner of my upper lip. it's pretty much an inflammed area but it is like a look through pimple and it's every white, it looks different from normal whiteheads.i looked online and found that toothpaste applied for an hour would help it go away and i did exactly that and washed the toothpaste off with lukewarm water. as i washed it off i saw that the white from the pimple began to wash off slowly leaving a very tiny round clip type wound. i thought it had worked and applied hydrogen peroxide to clean the wound and left it alone and didn't touch it. it's been rougly 4 hours now and the pimple is back, same size, same look, as if nothing changed. the white is back too. i thought it might be puss but when it came out before it felt like more of a solid substance than a liquid pus type thing. i'm not sure what this is or how to receive rid of it. i left it alone for a week and it got worse with no signed of getting better. i really don't want this to grow and i want to receive rid of it quick and completely (without scarring) but most importantly without scarring. it hurts to eat, to drink water, and even smiling makes it sting because of where it is. it sucks. please help. thank you so much in advance i appreciate every the websites on skincare but i would like to receive answers on how to deal with this specific pimple

Open Question: IS this acne?? PICS included....acne sufferer's please advise?

I have a similar patch on the other side of my nose....the dermatologist said it "looks" like acne...but that as a year ago....he then gave me 3 month course of antibiotics hichdid nothing. I have sensitive fair skin....the patch itches but never hurts..there's nothing "inside" so you cannot squeeze thm... could it be dermatitis?

Open Question: How do i boost my self esteem?

Serious answers only, please. I have no confidence in myself. I was struggling with my weight for a good year, and i finally got down to a normal weight for my height. But now whenever i'm at school, or in public, i always look these other girls with the perfect body, hair, etc. They have a skinny waist, straight hair, they're pretty, skinny, have tons of friends around them, they have no acne, they have a boyfriend, they're popular... I'm kinda chunky, have curly, tangled hair, almost no friends, wear glasses, have tons of acne, not the prettiest girl ever, never had a boyfriend, and don't even receive me started on how *popular* i am... I always feel like i should be exactly like them. I feel sooo jealous of girls like that. It depresses me; stresses me out. I just feel... wrong, fat, like i should be EXACTLY like those girls. I am so worried for the new school year. I'm starting a new school, in 7 grade, and i know there's always going to be the mean girl/s who is perfect... and i feel like i should be like them. wear short shorts, have the perfect boobs, wear low clip shirts and be comfortable in them... in other words, look like a whore. i don't want to look like a whore! i just want to be comfortable in my possess skin and with my body, know that i am who i am, be glad with myself... please help...
